Milwaukee – March 5, 2024 – The UW Credit Union Southridge branch officially opens Monday, March 11, in the Village of Greendale. The new branch is located at 5100 S. 76th St., near Southridge Mall. It is the credit union’s 12th branch in the greater Milwaukee area, bringing its total branch count to 33.

The Southridge branch will include an on-site mortgage loan officer to help members achieve their homeownership goals as well as wealth advisors to assist with investment opportunities. Branch staff can support members in English or Spanish; half of the employees are bilingual.

“Consumers in this area have plenty of choices for a financial partner,” said Milwaukee Director of Member Sales & Service Fe Johnson. “Convenience is key, and we’re proud to provide a best-in-class digital banking experience but also friendly, local staff to assist in person. Being member owned, everything we do is with our members’ best interest in mind. From fee-free checking accounts and great rates to true transparency and inclusive banking products, our Southridge branch is an opportunity to showcase the credit union difference.”

Elizabeth Melendez will serve as the Southridge branch manager. Melendez joined UWCU in 2018 as a bilingual financial specialist and quickly moved into branch management roles across the Milwaukee area. She is an active member of two employee resource groups at the credit union: the Women’s Initiative Network and Raices Latinx.

UWCU has maintained steady growth in Southeastern Wisconsin, even amid big bank closures. An Oconomowoc branch is planned for this summer. Two additional locations are slated to open in 2025: one on Milwaukee’s east side and the other in Pewaukee.

A Southridge branch celebration is scheduled for April 4 from 1 to 3 p.m. Community members are encouraged to stop in for a free Brewers™ baseball and a chance to win an autographed ball (while supplies last). Guests can also snap a picture with a favorite Brewers™ mascot and enter for the chance to win Brewers™ tickets.*

*No purchase necessary. Mascot photos are on Thursday, April 4 from 1 to 2 p.m. See branch display for enter-to-win details. Valid 3/11/24-4/30/24.
